Seoul Players presents: 24-Hour Theatre
Actors! Writers! Directors! Techies!
Seoul Players will host its 3rd annual 24-Hour Theatre April 16-17. Open to all, this event is low-commitment (24 hours!) with an exponentially high fun factor!
Friday, April 16th All interested parties are invited to show up at Roofers in Itaewon at 9:00 pm. Everyone will jot down their names and what they would be interested in doing (acting, directing, writing, tech). The more interests the better! The MC will then randomly assign each person to a team. An ideal team would be a writer, 2-4 actors, and a director. This all depends upon how many people show up so bring your friends! Writers can also be directors. The teams meet briefly to get to know each other. We then put out a series of “inspiration buckets” for the writers. Categories can include a first line, a setting, a prop, a genre, an action, a character quirk, etc. We’ll ask that the teams pick from at least 2 buckets. Teams can choose more if they so desire. The pieces are meant to be about 5-7 minutes long. The teams discuss a concept for the piece, then disband, and the writer is left to do some work.
Saturday, April 17th By 8:00 am Saturday morning the writer will email the finished script to the MC, who will edit it/okay it; then the writer sends the script to his/her team. At 10:00am the directors meet with the MC to check in. The directors take over at this point. He/she needs to decide a time to work with the actors to rehearse. The director is responsible for scheduling, props, finding a location to work, etc. We will do our best to assist you in this! Depending on the number of pieces, we’ll schedule a tech rehearsal about 2 hours before show time. At 9:00 pm that night, we’ll run the show to great acclaim and party afterwards. 24-Hour Theatre was a huge success in 2009 with over 70 participants and 120 audience members. Come early to get a good seat Saturday night! Tickets are 10,000 won, no advance reservations! If you are interested in participating, or have any questions, please email Seoul Players at seoulplayers@gmail.com or simply show up on April 16th! Check out the Facebook event HERE.
